On Thursday 24th Oct the Holy Family N.S football team will be the final of the 6/8 teacher Cumann Na mBunscoil competition against Dromclough N.S in Austin Stacks Park Tralee at 7pm. Having beaten Fossa, Currow, and Faha schools they became Cumann Na mBunscoil East Kerry 6/8 teacher schools champions. They defeated Cullina N.S in the County Semi- Final. We wish them the best of luck in the final. This is a great achievement to reach another Co.Final for a second year in a row well done to all involved and good luck lads. Well done to the boys and girls U6 &U8 who played a friendly against Glenflesk in Rathbeg this week. Paddy Mullooly U13 Invitational Tournament; Rathmore & Glenflesk took part in the Paddy Mullooly Final held in Rathbeg Sunday last. It was a great sporting game of football with both teams giving their all till the final whistle. Rathmore pulled away in the second half and deserved the win on the day. A thank you to the Mullooly family, and to ref Christy Crowley. Final score: Rathmore 1-11 to Glenflesk 1-4. South Kerry U12- Hurling league; This was a heart stopping game which hung in the balance throughout, but Rathmore showed great heart and never gave up, some lovely scores were scored by both sides but Rathmore held on to the bitter end fought hard great team effort and the win well deserved. Rathmore 4-05 to Kenmare 2-07. East Kerry O'Donoghue Cup Qtr- Final; Rathmore 1-15 to Legion 3-13. Congratutations, to Rathmore Ladies who were crowned Co.Junior B Champions with a 4-12 to 2-03 win over St.Senans/Finuge on Sunday last. Well done ladies. Up coming fixtures: South Kerry U12 Hurling league Rathmore v Kilgarvan, Credit Union Co.League Rathmore at home to Keirns O' Rahilly's. Well done to our u11 hurlers who won the Denis Nagle Memorial Tournament held in Rathbeg on Sat last. A great display of the skills of hurling saw them overcome Banteer & Kilgarvan in the group stage to advance to a semi- final with Kenmare. A convincing win in the semi-final in which the opposition failed to score setup a final with Newmarket. Newmarket proved great opposition in the final and the game was in the balance for much of it,but a strong performancefrom our midfield was enough to see our U11's claim the Denis Nagle Memorial Cup for the first time in 4 attempts.
Special thanks to Banteer, Newmarket, Kenmare, Kilgarvan, and Tralee Parnells for helping to make a great and enjoyable tournament. A big thank you to Eoin & Anthony who have been in charge this year all the hard work has paid off. From Rathmore / Gneeveguilla we had Sinead Warren representing Kerry in the girls U14 Shott Putt and the U11 Mixed Basketball Team representing Munster. Sinead performed brilliantly, throwing10.95m, placing her in second place, only narrowly missing out to 1st place. However a fantastic achievement for Sinead and Gneeveguilla Athletic Club. We extend our congratulations to Sinead and family on receiving yet again another National award. Thank you to Sheila and Gneeveguilla Athletic Club for the coaching they have given Sinead in preparing for this competition. On Saturday afternoon the U11 mixed basketball team met with the Connaught Champions in the semi-final game. A very tough opposition for them, however the girls and boys had the will to win, displaying some fine skills in attack and defence they managed to take their lead and maintain it when the final whistle blew. On Sunday afternoon they advanced to the final where they met with Monaghan. Again with a great desire to win and gold medals along with the title of 'National Finalists' at stake, the boys and girls dug in and gave it their all. Rathmore / Gneeveguilla proved the better team on the day and were thus worthy winners of the competition. A fantastic achievement for the children and coaches who have given so much of their time to preparing the children for this competition. Team members were as follows: Kornelia Cybul, Alice O' Leary, Megan McCarthy, Aisling Brosnan, Roisin McAuliffe, Paudie O'Leary, Paudie Murphy, Damien Cronin, Mark O' Leary and Michael Twomey. Team coaches were John Hurley, James Brosnan, Stephen Lehane and Mags Fitzgerald. We wish to acknowledge the coaches for their magnificent dedication to the game, to the team and to Community Games. Thanks to the parents and to all who travelled to Athlone to support the players and coaches.
