"Gneeveguilla NS in Association with Gneeveguilla Athletics Club will be holding their third annual 5k run, jog, walk, family fun run, on Sunday 27th of September. 
Registration will begin at 11:30 in the Gneeveguilla GAA hall (HQ), with the run starting at 1:00.

We are hoping that the majority of households will purchase a dog nomination costing €50. 
Those who purchase a dog nomination will receive the following:
• You will receive family tickets, (i.e. two adult tickets, children will be free on the night)
• You will be in with a chance of winning  a prize  if your dog wins, and  your name  will also be entered into a  further draw  for which the prizes are as follows 1st €250, 2nd € 150, 3rd 100.
Furthermore, those who have a ‘Rathmore Parish’ entrance ticket will be entitled to a €5 per person reduction on meals ordered in the Restaurant on race night.

FUNDRAISING TEA DANCE.
A fund raising Tea Dance in aid of the Kerry – Cork Health Link Bus will take place in the Ivy Leaf Theatre, Castleisland on Sunday, 27th September from 2pm to 6pm. 
Music by Paddy Cassidy, Pa Quaid, William J. O’Connor and Denis McCarthy.
This bus provides free transport 5 days a week, bringing cancer patients from Kerry-Cork for their radiotherapy treatment at Cork University Hospital. 
No Government or HSE funding is received towards the cost of running the bus and your support will be gratefully appreciated.

Defibrillators
 Rathmore Community Council and Rathmore Community Centre committee have recently put two defibrillators (AED) in place, one at theCommunity Centre and one opposite the Church.
These life saving devices can give a person in cardiac arrest an 80% chance of survival even before the arrival of an ambulance.
These groups plan to run certified training courses in the near future in CPR and AED use.

NEW PARISH OFFICE;
The reduction in the number of priest’s in the parish has meant that both Fr. Pat O’Donnell P.P. and Fr. Kevin McNamara C.C.   Are on the road a lot more, and have a broader area to cover. As a consequence, it is very important that we put in  place a location where   parishioners  can  call  with  their  enquiries,  knowing  for  certain   that  there  will  be  somebody  there  to  greet  them. Furthermore with the ongoing changes in parish structures such a facility will be even more important in the years   ahead.  We are therefore happy to announce  that  OUR  NEW PARISH  OFFICE  is  open  to all  from  last  Monday   January  27      We  have  been  fortunate  here  in  our  Rathmore  Parish  to  have  had  the  services  of  two  outstanding    secretaries  in Janice O’  Sullivan and Maureen Cremin.  They will be joined on the staff by Kathleen Kelleher, whom   many of you already know through her work with Rathmore Social Action Group.  In the new arrangement Maureen and Kathleen   will run the Parish Office, Janice will continue as previously to work from her home office. I  would like to  express my  sincere thanks to  Janice: nobody has done  more to  facilitate this change; and  nobody has  sacrificed  more to  enable it to take place. We have been in a period of transition over the past few months. Since August the Church Newsletter has moved to the Presbytery Office: similarly the booking of masses has moved from Janice’s capable hands. Rathmore Ladies Football;
On Saturday 25th January  last Presentation Night for U10 and U12 girl’s football l take place in Teach Iosagain at 7pm. Medals were presented to U10 girls who won a number of Blitz’s and U12 girls  who won the East Kerry Div. 1 and County Div. 1. Light refreshments were served.
On the 7th February the AGM of the Ladies Football Club will take place in Rathbeg at 8pm, everyone welcome. Registration will also take place at 7pm before AGM for all age groups. On the 21st February the Ladies Football Club are holding a Victory Social in Darby O Gills, more details later.

Robinson Crusoe the panto commences in The Community Centre Rathmore on Saturday Jan 25th @ 8 pm, with matinees on the following two Sundays @ 3.00 pm. Fundraising for the Philippines
The Social Action Group organised a number of successful fundraising events recently with the goal of providing monies to Trocaire to help those affected by the Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. A total of €3,005 was raised. Events included a disco in Teach Iosagain, a cake sale and collection boxes in a variety of shops.
Christmas Concert
A Christmas Variety Concert will take place in Teach Iosagain on Saturday 21st December from 7.30-9.30pm. Entry €5 per person, light refreshments included.
Children’s Christmas Party Fundraiser
A Children’s Christmas Party will take place in Teach Iosagain on Saturday 14th December from 4-6pm. Activities will include a Giant Bouncy Slide,Christmas fun games, face painting and a special mystery guest! Cost is €5 per child, tea & coffee will be provided to parents. This event is being co-ordinated by members of the Social Action Group. All proceeds from this event will be used to purchase Christmas presents for the elderly.

40th Sale of Work: The Annual  Sale of work was in aid of people with Intellectual Disabilities and took place on Sunday last 8th December in the Community Centre Rathmore.  It was great success.

Rathmore Community Council Working Together as a Community.
Mr. Liam Flynn from Millstreet outlined a proposal which would very much enhance our village over the Christmasperiod. Unfortunately the proposal would involve significant expenditure in year one but not quite as costly in year two and subsequent years. Year one brackets would cost €50, trees are €15 and lights €22, putting up and taking down €40. Initial cost of €120. For those who already have brackets, trees and lights can be supplied for €70. He has agreed to leave prices as last year. While we feel that it is not easy for people to find money for everything in these times we feel that this is a project worth recommending but it is up to people themselves. Well done to Rathmore Girls on a good win at the weekend v St.Pauls

This was a great team effort by these young enthusiastic boys who competed against Tralee Imperials. Rathmore Ravens 46- 31 Tralee Imperials.

The Official Opening of Rathmore Community Playground took place yesterday 30th November 2013. There was a big turn-out and we were blessed with the weather on the day. 

The Proceedings began with a blessing by Fr. Pat O'Donnell P.P. This was followed by Contributions from Seamus Cosaí Fitzgerald, Mayor of Kerry, Maura Walsh, IRD Duhallow & Rathmore Community Council Chairman, Diarmuid McCarthy. The Cutting of the ribbon was performed jointly by Mayor of Kerry, Seamus Cosaí Fitzgerald & Maura Walsh, IRD Duhallow. The music was provided for the occasion by Piper Kathleen Houlihan, Holy Family National School Band, led by Henry Cronin & Sliabh Luachra Comhaltas Group Provided Traditional Irish Music in the Community Centre while refreshments were served after the opening. 
All of the children were then provided with stickers and a goodie bag as they proceeded to take full advantage of our New Community Playground & an opportunity was afforded to all the adults present to see our New Playground. Not surprisingly the feedback was very positive & all were suitably impressed by our New Facility. 

There was a large attendance of Public Representatives for The Occasion. Mayor of Kerry, Seamus Cosaí Fitzgerald, Michael Healy Rae TD, Tom Fleming TD, Senator Tom Sheahan, Councillors John Sheahan, Danny Healy Rae, Michael Gleeson, Brendan Cronin. Cormac Collins, Maura Walsh & Tríona Murphy, Tim Ryng, IRD Duhallow, Vincent Foley, Playground Officer, Kerry County Council, Mr. Frank Coffey Engineer for the Playground. Apoligies were sent from Senators Paul Coghlan, Mark Daly & Cllr John Joe Culloty.

From early morning Community Council Members & Their Helpers worked hard preparing for the occasion. A big clean-up was undertaken. A Stage & Bunting were erected & The Community Centre was prepared. While this was going on another group were busy catering, making sandwiches, home-baking, & preparing Teas and Coffees for the Adults. Yet another group prepared Goodie Bags for the Children. There was a Slideshow of The Night at The Dogs & The Development of The Playground on show in the Community Centre.

We would like to thank everyone for their voluntary effort on the day.  We would also like to thank the members of the media who attended on the day.

Rathmore Community Council

The Holy Family made it three out of three for a second year in a row. They became Cumann Na mBunscoil East Kerry 6/8 teachers champions after defeating Fossa N.S,Currow N.S, and Faha N.S. They then went on to defeat Dromclough N.S. in the final of 6/8 teacher Cumann Na mBunscoil. This led them onto a place in the Div 1 Final where they met the Mon of Killarney, this was a great game of football, both sides fought hard till the end and the holy family Rathmore won on a score line of 0-9pts to 0-4pt. A great achievement, and well done to all the boys and teachers for all the hard work done this year.
